    The Assistant Director for Student Veteran and Military Recruiting manages and oversees recruitment activities by developing and implementing strategic plans to recruit transfer, Veteran, current military personnel, and military family member students to Syracuse University. This position serves as the campus-wide resource providing expertise, guidance and support to the University, College, and School recruiting efforts, admissions, and financial aid offices and prepares reports regarding recruitment and admission of Veterans, currently serving military students, and family members. The Assistant Director develops and implements a transfer and Veteran recruiting training strategy designed to train Syracuse University field recruiters nationally and globally.
    Qualifications
    Valid driver’s license required.
    Valid passport required.
    Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s preferred).
    Three (3+) plus years of recruiting or equivalent experience in a four-year private university setting.
    Experience working with military and veteran populations preferred.
    Prior/Current Active-Duty Military, Reserve, National Guard service or military spouse preferred.
    Job Specific Qualifications
    Understanding of Chapter 31 (Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment) and Chapter 33 (GI Bill) benefits.
    Understanding of Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC), Army Green-to-Gold, Air Force Senior Enlisted Leadership Commissioning Program or similar programs.
    Strong organizational, oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
    Knowledge of higher education and student support services and programs.
    Computer literacy required, particularly Microsoft Office Suite.
    Strong knowledge of advanced sourcing techniques such as social media.
    Responsibilities
    Assist in developing and implementing a strategic plan to recruit Veterans, currently serving military personnel, and military family members to attend Syracuse University.
    Represent and appropriately market the University at conventions, job fairs, education fairs, military bases, community colleges, and other such venues.
    Serves as university lead for growing and maintaining Operation Veteran Promise; a program to guarantee admission to high school students who enlist in the Active Duty military and successfully complete their first term of enlistment.
    Communicate Syracuse University’s value proposition for transfer, veterans, currently serving military personnel, and military family members to drive candidate interest in Syracuse University.
    Travel to regional and international sites to establish and maintain recruitment efforts.
    Review undergraduate applications for admission from veteran and military-connected applicants as well as other applications for admission as assigned.
    Serve as a resource for those reviewing graduate and law school applications from veteran and military-connected applicants.
    Work with University Marketing and Communications and the Office of Veteran and Military Affairs in development of print and web-based materials for recruiting veterans, currently-serving military personnel, and military family members to be used by University, College, and School recruiters and admissions personnel.
    Such materials may include, but not be limited to, brochures, websites, marketing materials (print, digital, broadcast), and social media platforms.
    Such material may include, but not be limited to, recruiting products and materials to attract applicant and help prospective and admitted students navigate admissions, financial aid, and housing.
    Help ensure materials are compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
    Oversee all programmatic activities for the recruitment of transfer, veteran, military, and family member students.
    Maintain records, initiate research, and prepare reports regarding recruitment and admission of veterans, currently serving military personnel, and military family members to matriculate in undergraduate and graduate degree and non-degree programs in all Syracuse University Colleges and Schools.
    Track and analyzes effectiveness of marketing initiatives and admission activities.
    Conduct research to identify additional ways to reach target group and referral resources.
    Additional recruitment tasks assigned by the Director of Transfer and Veteran Admissions
    Serve as a member of the admissions team supporting on and off campus recruitment activities
