  • POSITION SUMMARY:
    The Office of Undergraduate Advising (OUA) Office Manager & Event Coordinator will provide comprehensive administrative support, event management of up to 150 events per year (both virtual and in-person events), marketing and communications assistance, and office management for OUA, OUA affiliated committees, and for OUA events, trainings and programs. This position will actively create and sustain a welcoming, friendly environment in support of the office's overall community development mission both within the office and at OUA events.

    This position will be supervised by the Associate Director for Training and Community Building and work closely with the Administrative Manager.

    The Office of Undergraduate Advising (OUA) was created in 2011 to coordinate and improve advising for undergraduate students. OUA is responsible for training, communication, assessment, technology and standards servicing the campus-wide advising community. The office has five units that provide direct undergraduate advising: the Cross-College Advising Service, the Career Exploration Center, the Centers for Pre-health & Pre-law Advising, and UW Madison Online Undergraduate Degree . The Office of Undergraduate Advising reports to the Provost through the Vice Provost for Teaching and Learning. In 2018 the Office of Undergraduate Advising expanded its mission to provide leadership and coordination of Career Services.

    DEGREE AND AREA OF SPECIALIZATION:
    No Degree Required: HS Diploma Required.

    Experience and Skills:
    -Exceptional ability to manage multiple, concurrent projects in a fast-paced work environment
    -Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

    -Ability to work collaboratively, effectively, and productively as a member of the OUA team
    -Ability to be a self-starter who will take initiative, plan ahead, and independently manage multiple projects, priorities and duties
    -Ability to work effectively and productively with campus partners within the office and across campus
    -Strong written and verbal interpersonal and communication skills
    -Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications
    -Willingness to ask for help, admit mistakes, and modify performance based on feedback

    Preferred Qualifications:
    -Experience with event planning and management
    -Experience performing administrative and record keeping tasks within an office environment
    -Ability to learn G Suite (Google), WordPress, MailChimp, and graphic design software
    -Working knowledge of UW-Madison policies and procedures
